Emmanuelle Alt has been named the successor to Carine Roitfeld, who announced her departure as editor-in-chief of French Vogue right before the holidays.

Alt, the magazine's fashion director, was the favored choice in the rumors leading up to the announcement and will be the second stylist in a row to helm the title.

Condé Nast France president Xavier Romatet made the announcement in a press conference today, noting that in her new role, Alt will have to use ... the Internet:
"I give her full confidence to embody and lead this demanding brand and to let is live in all of its different dimensions — including digitally."
Alt begins her new job on February 1, and she says she is thrilled. Roitfeld has said she's been in the office working on the March issue

The editor of French Vogue Carine Roitfeld has resigned after ten years at the helm of the title.
Roitfeld will leave the magazine in January and has decided to concentrate on personal projects.
According to Vogue.com, Jonathan Newhouse, chief executive of Condé Nast International said:”It is impossible to overstate Carine’s powerful contribution to Vogue and to the fields of fashion and magazine publishing. Under her direction, Vogue Paris received record levels of circulation and advertising and editorial success.”
He added:”Vogue Paris has established itself as one of the most iconic magazines in the world, with huge influence in the field of fashion and photography.”
Roitfeld is recognised in the industry for her sassy sense of personal style and directional, yet innately French, fashion choices.

Lanvin for H&M

A second skimpy look at Lanvin's H&M collection is out. This image from the campaign reveals floral dresses, leopard shoes, and ... the shopping bag!

The full line includes clothes, jewelry, hats, shades, shoes, and lipstick, and arrives in 200 H&M stores on November 23.

Images of the full line come out online on November 2, and the festivities continue with a "Lanvin loves H&M" fashion show in New York at the Pierre Hotel on November 19.

If you haul ass to Las Vegas on November 20, you can buy the line three days earlier than everyone else when it goes on sale at the opening party for the new H&M store at the Forum Shops in Caesars. It's actually, legitimately, not a bad reason to go to Vegas.

You'd probably still save money as opposed to buying real Lanvin, when all is said and done. (from The Cut)

Finally even the most classic and luxury brand, Hermès (which I love), has landed on the street style world!! With this site the french maison decide to address to the younger consumers,

with a lot of pictures of "cool guys" (models styled by Fran Burns) that from London, Paris, NY and Tokyo show off the billion ways to use one of the Hermès key-pieces, the classic scarf (carré) and there are instruction about how to knot and how to wear it too (very useful)!!!

Well, I'm not a "cool guy/wants to look cheap wearing super expensive things" fan and I love the snobby mood that Hermès keeps so far but .. I actually like this project anyway, because .. J'aime Mon Carré !!! :)

French designer Christophe Lemaire is poised to take the reins at Hermès this fall, heading up the women's ready-to-wear collection. The fashion veteran has designed his own men's and women's RTW label since 1991, which he is presenting with his first runway show in seven years today in Paris. Still, to this point, Lemaire has been most closely identified with the revival of Lacoste, a brand he helmed from 2000 to present. "I'm really proud of doing that in a coherent way and being very respectful of the DNA of the brand," he says. "That's the only way, of course: You have to put yourself at the service of an existing heritage."

The opinionated designer has a clear vision for what he sees as the future of fashion: a return to elegance, simplicity, quality, and classicism. "You don't have to change your wardrobe every six months. You don't have to buy the latest high-fashion brand bag. That's a very superficial vision of elegance," he says. "I very much believe that elegance is linked to dignity." As he prepared for his show, we talked to Lemaire about his Lacoste legacy, the overexposure of rock-and-roll style, and why he calls Purple "a joke."

Was it a difficult decision to leave Lacoste?

Yes and no. I was extremely happy to be offered the position at Hermès. It's definitely a kind of dream, and it's very coherent with my personal vision on fashion. I've always been interested in simplicity and timeless style more than fashion.

How do look back on your time at Lacoste?

I'm most proud of having refreshed the image of Lacoste, gearing it toward a younger and more fashion-forward audience. I'm deeply convinced that Lacoste has a unique position: It's not a common sportswear brand, nor a real fashion brand. I think I expressed that pretty well in the fashion shows, though there is still a challenge to express that in the shops and in distribution.

What's your vision for Hermès?

The winter collection will be shown in March. I'm not supposed to talk about that yet, since we feel it's a bit early. But I'll have something more concrete to show at the end of the year.

Who are your favorite designers?

Phoebe Philo at Celine, and I very much like the work of Apiece Apart.

What made you decide to show the Christophe Lemaire collection on the runway again?

A lot of people have associated me too quickly with my younger work and what I used to do with Lacoste. My own collection has evolved a lot in the past two or three years. It was a good time to clarify the silhouette and positioning.

What kind of person wears your designs?

People who are into style more than fashion. I offer essential pieces you can play with and make up your own specific uniform.

What appeals to you about uniform dressing?

I really hate this idea that you have to change your wardrobe every six months – that's bullshit. At the end of the day, you have to find your own style vocabulary.

How would you describe your personal style?

I mix traditional clothes inspired by China, Japan, and India with Western workwear.

What trends are you appreciating right now?

I'm happy to see that we've come back to a certain common sense: real quality, timelessness, simplicity, and classicism in the good sense of the term. Until very recently, high-fashion women were like luxury prostitutes. Now there is a need for a more authentic and dignified style.

Any trends you're ready to see retired?

I'm tired of the trends going from boho chic to rock and roll, boho chic to rock and roll, then hippie chic to punk chic ... I love music, but I'm just tired of this superficial rock-and-roll thing in fashion. I think being transgressive today is being classical. To pretend to dress as a punk and take cocaine and have sex orgies has just become common now — there's nothing transgressive about that. The fashion pages, like Purple magazine, are just a joke.

How so?

It's just very artificial. They pretend to rebel and revolt when really they are a victim of the system more than anyone.

What's one item you're saving to buy?

A classic leather Hermès key holder.

What should every man have in his closet?

A good pair of shoes that makes you feel comfortable and handsome.

What's something you never leave the house without?

A pair of Chinese slippers for summer and leather shearling-lined ankle boots for winter.

I'm totally in love with Stella McCartney Resort 2011 Collection .. for sure my favourite about Resort Collections even if I loved some other brands (that I'll post later) really think that Stella made an amazing job with simple pieces superchic with a femininity discrete and elegant.

The next step is go to the gym and work on my legs, because for sure you need marvellous legs to wear this amazing collection !!!!! ;D

Moschino For Kartell

MOSCHINO and Kartell have joined forces to create a new collection of plastic ballet shoes. Following the success of the Mademoiselle chairs, designed by Philippe Starck, the design company Kartell and Moschino are set to launch a new range for spring/summer 2010- 11.

"The synergy between Kartell and Moschino is rooted in the creative and experimental identity of the two Italian brands, which has led them to work together on projects that extend from design to fashion and vice versa," said Rossella Jardini, Moschino's creative director. "The BowWow shoes are a result of this reciprocal influence and are both a design object and an accessible, fun fashion accessory."

Constructed entirely from interwoven plastic, the lightweight BowWow shoes come presented with the iconic Moschino bow. The designs are 100 per cent recyclable and available in a range of colours including peach, red, green and blue.

The collection is due to land in stores in January 2011.

I just realize that I never talked about music ... !!!!!!! I can't leave without music, I love music, I love rock music and most of all, I love to go the concerts ... last concert I went is BLACK REBEL MOTORCYCLE CLUB in bologna on may 8th.

BRMC is Peter Hayes – Guitar, Bass, Vocals, Harmonica, Keys / Robert Levon Been – Bass, Guitar, Vocals, Piano / Leah Shapiro - Drums, Percussion ... I can say it's my favourite band, (of course if we do not considerate the gods of music like Beatles, Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, David Bowie, etc..), I follow them since the first album "B.R.M.C." of 2002 .. a great album (Spread Your Love, the video above is taken from it and is still my favourite song), definitely my favourite one together with the following one "Take Them On, On Your Own" (2003) ... after they publish other 3 albums: "Howl" 2005, "Baby 81" 2007 and in 2010 "Beat the Devil's Tattoo", the last one that I loved exactly as the first and the second one!!!!!! They just change the drummer from Nick Jago to Leah Shapiro, she is GREAT!!

I saw them live twice: first time in 2005 during Howl tour (really great) and then as just wrote on May 8th Beat the Devil's Tattoo tour ... let me say that is been amazing ... they are so cool on stage, they are a "live band" for sure!!!! And, girls, let me just say that seen Robert Levon Been playing is bass is a real joy for eyes ...... I love him .. ehehe!!! Well, not less is Peter Hayes, simply magnetic !!! Anyway Robert remain my favourite ... during last show I even talk to him a little and took a picture with him .. he's been so nice !!!!!!! I looks like a 13 years old schoogirl of the 80s dreaming about Simon LeBon .. eheheheh !!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D

Of course I forgot all the thousand of things I would have wanted to tell and ask them but now is gone ... One of the things that i didn't say them is how much I love the FW2010 collection, so early 60s, so chic !!! I'm totally in love with the black dress (above) with typical 50s conical breast and most of all, long sleeves .. finally warm dresses against cold !!!

Alexa Chung for Lacoste

The brand best known for its preppy tennis inspired aesthetic has signed Alexa Chung as the face of its new women's scent.

The campaign will be the first of Lacoste's adverts to feature a female celebrity face. The perfume is set to launch in January next year.

The Vogue cover girl currently fronts Pepe Jean's spring/summer campaign and worked as a model before becoming a TV presenter for Channel 4's T4. JEAN PAUL GAULTIER has announced that he is leaving luxury French fashion label Hermès.

The house has named Christopher Lemaire - currently creative director of Lacoste - as his successor.

"Hermès is deeply grateful to Jean Paul Gaultier for his outstanding creative contribution during these seven years," the company told WWD.

Gaultier will leave after the label's spring/summer 2011 collection is showcased in October and Lemaire will take the helm at women's ready-to-wear at the start of the autumn/winter 2011 collection.

Gaultier, who was appointed artistic director of Hermès in 2003 when he took over from Martin Margiela, is expected to concentrate on his own ready-to-wear collections and haute couture fashion house, in which Hermès will retain a 45 per cent stake.

Hermès recently reported a sales increase of 18 per cent over the last quarter, and 15.2 per cent rise across Europe. The label plans to open or renovate 20 stores over the future year.

Sarah Burton For McQueen

SARAH BURTON, the late Alexander McQueen's right-hand design aide, has been named creative director of the London-based fashion house.

Burton - who grew up in Manchester and graduated from Central Saint Martins in 1997 - worked with McQueen for sixteen years. Having joined the brand in 1996, she has worked as head of womenswear design since 2000 and was credited with completing the designer's autumn/winter 2010-11 collection in time for Paris Fashion Week in March, following his suicide less than a month earlier.

The collection received rave reviews from retailers and the fashion press.
"The creation of modern, beautifully crafted clothes was at the heart of Lee's vision. I intend to stay true to his legacy," commented Burton on the announcement.

Gucci Group affirmed they would continue the company in McQueen's name shortly after his death, stating that the designer had set the "building blocks of the brand" that would allow the business to thrive.

Jonathan Akeroyd, president and ceo of Alexander McQueen said: "We are delighted that Sarah has agreed to take on the role of creative director. Having worked alongside Lee McQueen for more than 14 years, she has a deep understanding of his vision, which will allow the company to stay true to its core values."

Burton's appointment will help strengthen the future of the company, which continues to press forward - with plans to launch a men's underwear collection under license to Italy's Albisetti SpA in June.

"Sarah is extremely talented and under her creative leadership we are ready to enter a new phase in the brand's history," said Akeroyd.

Robert Polet, president and ceo of Gucci Group added: "Sarah has a real talent, a close understanding of the brand, and the vision necessary to take it forward. We will be giving full support to Sarah and the team in the coming years."

This russian fashionista is my latest style obsession, and checking the picture below you can see why. Mira Mikheeva-Duma started work at Russian Harper's Bazaar as a Social Events editor, and then moved on contributing to L'Officiel Russia, Glamour Russia, Tatler Russia and the style section at Russian OK magazine. It is no secret that this stylish young (about 25 years old) woman comes from a wealthy background - her father and her husband are both succesful businessmen.
She has taken the roots of Russian style - excess, lots of designer labels - and put a young fresh spin on it. She is young and she is still finding her fashion feet, whilst the world watches in awe of how she experiments with different styles.
Some criticise her style for being too designer or too dressy, but when you have an unlimited budget and you have the events, why wouldnt you play dress up with all of your favourite brands? What a lucky girl !!!!
She is very petite and not anorexic-thin makes a nice change and shows girls lacking the supermodel body how to rock the catwalk silhouettes, with the help of an amazing tailor of course. She's definitely making me envious ... ;)

In these rainy days there is nothing better than trench coat .. I love trench coats and A-line coats, so this Burberry trench with A-line (no belt) it's perfct to me .. eheh !! In addition I have a real passion for stripes .. the SeeByChloé striped top it's beautiful and I really think it's the perfect match for the trench .. a kinda of Paris-London look !!
